This entry will be about Trump and Musk and how they are doing as the new leaders of the free world. The speed at which these changes are happening is overwhelming. Although I agree with cleaning up the government and its ridiculous spending, and closing the borders, but I am shocked about the reckless way they are going about it. Welcome to corporate government.

Americans had no idea the first move was to alienate Canada. That was unexpected. My first concern is the tariffs on Canadian drugs. One of my friends responded that we could make our own. Unfortunately, pharmaceuticals don’t work that way. Adding the insult that Canada could become the 51st state was so callous and unnecessary. People in positions of authority have a responsibility to be, well, responsible. As a world leader, you can’t just shoot a verbal scud and chuckle and high five.

We also thought the new administration would handle the situation between Russia and Ukraine with a serious delicacy. As it turns out, it seems the plan all along was to present Russia with Ukraine as a gift. Leaving Zelinsky out of negotiations was shocking and can only lead to one outcome. I heard this phrase on the tube: “If you are not at the table, you will be on the table.” It is a cruel joke to be betraying Ukraine now after having fully supported it for so many years. I cannot imagine what Zelinsky is thinking. He must feel like a fool thinking we were there to help.

But wait…there’s more.

Let’s talk about Gaza. What a shit show. The last thing this region needs is a greedy land-grabber to take advantage of a people that Israel and the UK have screwed over  for decades. I bet Netanyahu is elated to have Trump lending a hand to rid themselves of the Palestinians.  Imagine if all world leaders did this…exploiting poorer nations to build Rivieras and make money, sending the citizenry packing (with nothing) to places that are not theirs and they are not welcome. One more step and we have Animal Farm in the making: keeping the Palestinians to work the land for free. I am surprised that Trump and Netanyahu haven’t thought of that yet. (I may be ahead of them).

Congratulations to Trump for taking the focus off domestic issues for a while though. It’s been a fabulous first six weeks. Oh boy.
